New Plants and.....Rabbits!

Well, my budget didn't appreciate this, but I bought some more Bonnie Plants and containers. I have 4 different varieties of tomatoes, catelope, watermelon, a pepper plant that produces sweet peppers 1/3 the size of bell peppers, sweet potatoes, and one other plant I cannot remember at the time. I will post a complete list here in the next couple of days.

All are in the MG potting soil.

On another note, I found that little brown furballs have raided my garden. Luckily it isn't too big to do much damage, but they nibbled the leaves of the corn plants. :(    I hope to get a small fence to keep them at bay. This will also help keep my dog from accidently wandering on top of my plants.

The tiger lilly plants are getting bigger, but no sprouts from the others. The eggs found in my hanging potted plant decided to commit suicide and fall on the porch and bushes next to the porch. Sad day.

I harvested my broccoli! It was tasty, but I think I let it go a little too long. It was the first time that I enjoyed broccoli without ranch. Yum.

All in all, everything is going great. It is hard to resist the plants outside Walmart as I go in. This new hobbie has become something more than I ever planned. These plants are giving me a sense of pride when they continue to grow and not die. I hope the impending storms do not damage or drown them. I am tempted to buy a tarp to help shield the plants in the ground and move the containers on the porch or even inside. The only problem is that if I move them inside, I will have to contain the curious cats and dog upstairs which is no easy task.

I'm excited to see how everything works out. I will hopefully be mowing the lawn tomorrow and I will get pictures of everything I have been talking about. Until then, I will be snuggling my kitties.

Until next time.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Well, since I finally got my paycheck, I was able to get potting soil (more MG) and some Bonnie Plants. I wanted to get some mature plants because the seeds are having a little trouble starting. That's okay.
The only thing was that there was a limited variety of plants, but I managed to walk out with 4 varieties of tomato plants! I will update on the breeds later.

When I planted the corn in the ground, apparently I had good timing. It is really taken root and is getting bigger and bigger. I'm so excited!

I went ahead and used the liquid Miracle Gro feed today. It didn't look like I used a lot, but I followed the directions and saturated the soil. I made sure to include all container plants, in ground plants, and my flower bed up front. My tiger lillies are poking out of the ground, but the iris and the Dahlia are not. I fear that they might not even come up at all.

Surprise! While I was watering the hanging potted plants, I found a bird's nest with 3 tiny eggs in one of the plants. I carefully removed it, and placed it in one of the wire hanging plant holders. The material in the bottom actually makes good nest material. I did try to get it close to its original position, so hopefully it won't become abandoned.

Well, that is all for today. I hope to finish mowing my lawn completely this week. I feel the blades need to be sharpened on the mower because apparently it became wet and rusted some. The job I did on Friday was not that good. I'm going to have to figure that one out.

Until next time.
